The Twisted Shrub story

The Twisted Shrub was born in a basement bar of a Minneapolis restaurant at 2:05pm on June 27th, 2015.

On that fateful day, my wife, KC, and I attended a cocktail class at Parlour Bar in the North Loop when our bartender extraordinaire announced these five simple words that launched our journey: "Today's cocktail theme is shrubs!"

Prior to that highly prophetic utterance, we had never heard of shrubs used to make drinks. Seriously, never. A few cocktails later, we were hooked.

We spent the next two weeks experimenting with hundreds of shrub recipes by combining real fruit with different vinegar and sugar combinations. We finally settled on our favorite six flavors that we believe are the best shrubs on the planet. In our humble opinion, each of our flavors find the perfect balance of tart and sweet for ALL your drinks! 

Today, every bottle of The Twisted Shrub is handcrafted over three days in our production space at the Northeast Food District in Northeast Minneapolis.

We use just THREE simple, all-natural ingredients to create these zing-filled mixers for your sodas & cocktails: the tart, gut-healthy deliciousness of apple cider vinegar, real fruit (always!) and 100% cane sugar. That's it. No additives, preservatives or concentrates....ever!

Our year-round shrub flavors are Strawberry Lime, Pineapple Habanero, Blueberry Lemon and Apple Ginger. Look for two amazing seasonal shrubs, too: Peach Habanero in the summer and Cranberry Clementine in the cooler months! 

We have always loved craft cocktails and drinks but, until now, lacked the confidence to make them at home. You, too, can now create complex, interesting and delicious cocktails, mocktails and better-for-you sodas from the comforts of your own home. No muddling or infusing!
